Windfalls was published in England by Random House UK and in Germany by Kruger Verlag. The Midwest Book Review calls Windfalls “a profound look at motherhood,” and Publishers Weekly says it is “a good prospect for reading groups.”

Into the Forest has been translated into a dozen languages, and is frequently taught in college courses and read by book groups.  It was selected by College of the Redwoods to be its Book of the Year for 1999-2000 and by Bowling Green State University to be its First Year Experience book for 2001.  Based on the 2001 success, Bowling Green State University choose Into the Forest to be the First Year Experience book again for 2006. Firelands College in Huron, Ohio picked  Into the Forest to be its All College Book for fall, 2006.  Into the Forest was the 2007 pick for the Books to Bridge the Region community-wide reading initiative in Indiana.  Most recently, it has been chosen by Santa Rosa Junior College to be the Work of Literary Merit for spring semesters 2010 and 2011.

The Life Within is a favorite of midwives and doulas, and is frequently given as a special gift to parents and parents-to-be.  Excerpts of The Life Within have been published in a college English textbook, a high school science textbook, and a book about journal-keeping for pregnant women.
